Northern Deanery

The Dental Directorate of the Northern Deanery is constantly looking at new methods to deliver training to complement the existing high quality hands-on, lecture and symposia type learning opportunities..

We piloted three evening webinars with the Dental Channel in 2009, which proved to be very popular with our diverse audience and were extremely well evaluated.

Our geographical area encompasses both inner city and rural areas. We were finding that the dental professionals in the rural areas of North Cumbria and North Northumberland were travelling for in excess of 4 hours in order to attend a half day course.

We chose Cumbria as the initial pilot target for our webinars. Due to the rural location of these practices, the audience appreciated the convenience of the webinars as well as the very high quality speakers that delivered the training.

Due to the success of the pilot, we have now opened up the webinar programme to all dental professionals in the Northern Deanery area: we see them as a permanent and integral part of CPD delivery.
