What's a 'webinar'?

A "webinar" is similar to a lecture but we bring the experts to you courtesy of your broadband connection - a great idea!

Evening programme

The monthly evening sessions are aimed primarily at dentists, though many are also relevant to other members of the team (for example the core recommended subjects and business or personal development).

Sessions commence at 8pm and close at approximately 9:30-9:45pm
(2 hours verifiable CPD).

Lunchtime programme - "Lunch and Learn"

Our monthly lunchtime lecture series delivers live training to your practice team. Intended primarily for dental nurses, it brings your team together once a month for a presentation and discussion. Join in with practices from across the UK without any disruption to the normal practice routine.

Sessions commence at 1pm and are valid for 1 hour of verifiable CPD.

Think of a live webinar as similar to attending a lecture but without having to travel. The format is similar, with a presentation followed by a question and answer session. However webinars offer some additional facilities that are not available in traditional lectures that make them more interactive and less formal.

What subjects and for whom?

The topics are mainly clinical, but with some business and personal development too. We include the core recommended subjects.

The monthly evening sessions are primarily aimed at dentists, though many are also relevant to other members of the team (for example the core recommended subjects and business development).

Verifiable CPD

Certificate example Webinars meet the GDC requirements for verifiable CPD:

Clear learning aims, objectives and outcomes so that participants know exactly how each webinar will help to develop and improve their own CPD

An evaluation is completed after the event so participants are able to comment on the experience and help us to improve the quality of our services

A certificate is available to download on completion of the evaluation

Recordings

Unlike conventional lectures we include a recording for 7 days or until the on-demand version is published, which ever is sooner. This is ideal if you were unable to attend the live event or wish to review the presentation.

On-demand webinar

The live event is edited and converted into an on-demand version. This includes CPD questions, a discussion forum and links to related resources. The on-demand webinars may be purchased individually or are included with our annual subscription bundles.

I've never done a webinar; how does it work?

A webinar is an online seminar that you watch via your PC from the comfort of your home or workplace. Once you have booked you will be sent a link by email with your joining instructions. You may listen to the presentation and questions, though you will derive greatest benefit by actively participating in the event.

Unlike conventional lectures our webinars provide an informal atmosphere and the added benefit of private chat, comments and questions.

I'm interested but I'm not much good with computers - can you help?

As long as you have basic computer skills and a reliable broadband connection you will be able to get involved. We run a test session 48 hours before the event to make sure that your computer is configured correctly and to give you a quick guide to the webinar process. It should take no more than 15 minutes and we are sure you will be impressed!

We also open the webinar session an hour early on the day of the event so that you can login early. A freephone number is available for any technical difficulties once the event has started.

Can I submit questions before the event?

Yes, you can submit questions to the presenter anytime before or during the webinar by email or by using the chat window. Questions will be addressed during the question and answer session.

What is the best web browser to use for the webinar?

The Dental-Channel system is compatible with the major web browsers. For best results we recommend the most recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox (having both is a good idea).

Can I view the webinar again?

A recording of the live event will be available to review for 7 days after the event.
