Using the on-demand webinars is simple. You will require the following:

- Basic computer skills
The on-demand webinars are recordings of our live webinars which have been edited and put into a learning course. You view the presentation answering quiz questions on what you have seen. At the end of the course you are presented with your CPD certificate.
The On-demand webinars are recordings of the Live Webinars which take place monthly. The live events are totally interactive allowing participants to chat with other users, pose questions to the presenter or even to give feedback as the presentation takes place.
The on-demand webinars are less interactive but, as recordings, are available to view at your convenience - you can start and stop, picking up where you left off. The on-demand webinars also have the added benefit of quiz questions which test your knowledge of the presentation and help you to absorb more information.
For best results we recommend using both services to fully engage in the learning and development process.
A single purchase of each course gives you up to 60 days access with CPD certification on completion. Learning Aim
To provide the Registered Dental Nurse with information on current legislation and good working practice related to dental radiography.
Learning Objectives
- Identify common radiographic views used in dentistry and reasons for taking them
- Identify anatomical landmarks and dental disease on dental radiographs
- Identify common film faults and methods of preventing
- Be familiar with legislation regarding justification when referring patients for radiographic examination
- Discuss the importance of Quality Assurance Programmes
Learning Outcome
Following the outcome, the RDN will be able to:
- Identify types of intra and extra oral radiographs and state the reasons for their use
- Identify common landmarks (anatomical, disease & artefacts) on dental radiographs
- State the causes of common radiographic film faults and their prevention
- Discuss the importance of justifying exposure of the patient to the effects of ionising radiation
- Discuss the use, reasons and methods of a Quality Assurance Programme
About the Presenter
Jillian Eastmond is CPD Training Manager for the Dental Nurse Education & Training Centre at Guys, King’s & St Thomas' Hospitals. She qualified as a dental nurse at Manchester Dental Hospital in 1994 and has worked in both private & NHS practices as well as dental hospitals. She worked as a specialist dental nurse in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Guy's Dental Hospital and was a head & neck cancer care coordinator for the Trust.
Jillian has a Further and Adult Education Teaching Certificate, a certificate in Dental Radiography as well as being an assessor for the NVQ III Oral Health Care Dental Nursing qualification. She has recently achieved a management qualification, and is a National and Oral Health Education examiner for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses.
She is committed to improving quality and standards for dental nurses and is keen to develop a range of learning opportunities including distance learning packages. She is an experienced teacher and delivers lectures from National Certificate training to dental undergraduates and MScs.
