Learning Objectives
This session will cover:
- Debate about whether or not to restore caries in the primary dentition
- Efficacy of restorative options available
- Current thinking behind pulp therapy in primary molars

Learning Outcome
By the end of the session, the participant will be:
- aware of new approaches to caries in the primary dentition;
- able to apply the new knowledge in a primary care setting;
- able to leave caries, sometimes, in very particular circumstances, with a clear conscience.
About the Presenter
Dr Mike Harrison has recently been appointed Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He has previously held senior hospital and academic positions at Cardiff Dental Hospital, King's College London Dental Institute, Guy's Hospital and Eastman Dental Institute.
His expertise and research interests include: genetic conditions affecting the dental and craniofacial structures, genetic basis of the ectodermal dysplasias, use of general anaesthesia and inhalation sedation in Paediatric Dentistry, and prevention of facial injury with cycle safety helmets.
