Don't Make a Crisis Out of a Trauma

How well would you cope with managing a traumatic injury?"Dont Make a Crisis Out of a Trauma" screenshot

ln_10d_0015_100px.png Dr Lindsay Nutting, Senior Clinical Teacher and Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry, discusses the latest research relating to luxation injuries.

Traumatic injuries are a true dental emergency; the immediate care provided can have serious consequences and inappropriate management can lead to the unnecessary loss of a tooth (or teeth) and a protracted course of treatment.

However they are not seen regularly in general practice (and when they do it is usually at 5:30 on a Friday afternoon) which means that practitioners are often not aware of the optimal management. Indeed the evidence is that traumatic injuries are often managed inappropriately.
